I’ve been working as an embedded SW engineer in the Automotive industry for more than 5 years now, always wanted to switch careers to mobile development (or web as a plan B) at some point, and I feel that it’s now or never.

I’ve learned a moderate amount of Android development and some React/React Native by myself in my free time (I’d say I’m somewhere between beginner and intermediate), but I think I still have a lot to improve and learn, and I have no professional experience.

I already applied to a some jobs but I either got no response or my application was declined, most probably due to having no professional experience as a “real” developer and just saying I learned some mobile development in my free time isn’t really enough in a CV.

I was wondering if anyone was/is in a similar situation and was/is your solution? Are there any specific courses you recommend completing that may have some weight in a CV? Or could building something, making it public on GitHub and posting a link in a CV would help more?

I’d be happy to hear any advice you have regarding the topic.
