If I’m running my own website that has live chatrooms and 1on1 cam chat, is it better to use WordPress plugins or writing them my own?

and this question is based on a hypothetical scenario where my website has a huge number of active users. what are the pros and cons of using WordPress plugins for live chatrooms and 1on1 cam chat VS writing a website using Firebase or something else for live chatrooms and 1on1 cam chat?
