What language would you write a "Windows Explorer-like" app in?

I’m thinking about writing a windows-explorer app for Windows. However, I’m not sure which language would be the best to write the application in.

The main reason I want to build the application is that on desktop, I think the windows explorer could use some UI improvements as well as a much better search functionality (layering on filters for searches, etc.) as well as baking in some quality of life improvements.

For these use cases, I’m wondering based on your expertise, what language I should use to write this application, if there should really be a preference at all?
