Hey folks I’m just curious about some business practices that concern a company I used to be affiliated with. I have left that company but regularly keep in touch with people who still work there. I’m hearing that this company is promising features and entire suites of products that either don’t exist at all, or are nowhere near complete (no landing page, system crashes when >3 users are logged in, promises of in-app messaging that does not exist and has no roadmap to exist). One of their largest customers bought this product and has on-site training sessions scheduled for it in 3 weeks. The implementation staff have been instructed not to speak negatively of the product and to gloss over its shortcomings to “keep everything positive.”
I know I’m several years removed from this company and just being nosy, but what could possibly be the logic behind this? There has to come a point where the customer realizes they’ve been scammed, right? This sounds super illegal to sell something that doesn’t exist. Has anyone experienced something similar?
