What are some good techniques to estimate stories within a sprint?

Hey there!

We are trying to use Scrum. Still very poorly set in place. One of the major issues we have are stories going through many sprints without being done.

So it’s clearly and issue of estimation. We need to be able to estimate it properly.

Everyone in the team is quite new and with little knowledge of the projects and the way the company decided to estimate things is by giving us the story and asking us to tell them how long we think it’s gonna take.

I’m trying to find a good technique so we can have this estimation number based on history of tickets from going from In progress to Done.

We recently defined our done definition for both development and QA, so I think some technique that can use that would be perfect, but I don’t have much knowledge on this area and would like to hear what are some good techniques with pos and cons if you could share.
