Hi,

I work as a software developer in a minor Company, Technology wise, we were and are Always a bit behind when it comes to using new tech, methods or tools.. which has both it’s pros and cons..

Anyhow, we are working on a new product, and want to join the microservice world, not for the buzzword, but because we need the scalability and the perks of dividing the responsibility..

We are looking into using Docker for containerized applications, the community edition, and we queried mirantis for prices for the enteprise setup, so we could use DTR and UCP.. but the prices were Way above our budget +500$ for each CPU core, and we Would need +40 cores.. leaving us with an anually Bill of 20.000$..

So we began to question on how others do so? How do you use containerized applications? Using the community edition, or any other containerized platform?

We are also looking to use git for sourcecode instead of SVN, any recommendations here Would also be great.. we Would like to keep the expences as low as possible..

I’ve read the “Building Microservices” book, and Got a lot of things straight on the frameworks, tools, code architecture.. but i feel the need to get the last bits and pieces together, it’s a whole new world for us.. so we all have to gain much experience.. so some stort guideance Would be appreciated! 🙂
