Hello all,

So the MD of the company has decided to outsource the development of a new app to another company as we’re far too busy. We’ve outsourced some projects recently with great success.

This project is a mobile app for Android and iOS. For this project three sets of people came to us, 3 offered ReactNative one ReactNative but also showcased Flutter.

I wasn’t privvy to the meeting because it isn’t my project, in fact the MD left out all the developers in the decision which I feel is a bit high risk.

The Flutter devs obviously sold the tech well do the MD of the company and he’s agreed to go with Flutter. I asked if I could see some live projects the company has made with Flutter and there are none they are all ReactNative but he was shown some apps that are in development.

My worries are

1) These developers have never been through the full dev cycle including deployment with Flutter so it feels like we are guinea pigs.
2) I have no affiliation to ReactNative but it seems like that is what a lot of people are developing mobile apps with it and it would be a lower risk choice if we needed to find new developers there are a lot of JS developers, not many Dart
3) I have only found two apps online that were made with Flutter, they are both nice but it doesn’t feel like it is a mature product yet.

These feel like red flags to me. Like I said, I’m not a RN dev so I don’t know the pros and cons between RN and Flutter but in generalities it feels like more people are using RN, more people know JavaScript than Dart so is easier to bring in devs and Flutter is not mature yet.

Can someone help me think this through – am I being overly paranoid/interfering or should I say something?
