Hello,

I’m an amateur game developer using Construct 2.

I’ve been working on a retro style platformer for a year and the project has gotten quite big.

I’ve noticed a significant drop in performance on weak PCs and laptops.

My girlfriend has a Lenovo Yoga laptop tablet hybrid that gets heated easily and struggles to play the game.

Since the game looks like it released on the NES (But widescreen and with more colors) I’m worried that people would think it should play anywhere. And why shouldn’t it?

After searching around a bit, I’ve found out about something called Chowdren:

http://mp2.dk/chowdren/

It seems to translate Construct 2 events to C++ code and uses a new runtime that allows much faster performance!

I’ve already emailed the developer of chowdren and I’m waiting for his reply. He also provides a porting service to consoles which I’m very interested in.

I’m a bit concerned though. I’m a hobbyist game developer who’s used to event based coding and I’m not used to “real” code (except some Ruby from RPG Maker). So, I may not understand that stuff about compiling and runtimes correctly…

My question is this, let’s say the Chowdren dev is too busy to take on another project.

What are my options?

Could I hire someone to do something similar to Chowdren?

What kind of knowledge would that person/company need?

Could you recommend such a person/company?

How much would that cost?

Thanks in advance.
