I’m saying like having to install, node, php, different web servers, python(virtual also), etc… on the host.

This way you could just have your editor(s) on host machine and write code in different folders/it will run provided your paths.

The other thing too is messing around with paths to me it seems easier if you’re in Linux to begin with. I’m not a huge fan/user of Mac(also don’t really know it and expensive). Although that idea of a brew file that can setup your dev environment assuming easily going from computer to computer, that would be cool.

Where you could use VMs with dedicated stacks/software

The concern with VMs is the resources(space/ram – best I have is 16GB at this time) but you could say “Docker”

I am open to that… what is a standard way to go about different dev environments?
