STG vs UAT

Hi all, our development pipeline usually looks like: (our server) dev -> (our server) stg -> (client server) prod

Client is insisting on uat environment, how does this differ from stage?

stg is where we always get client to test and then approve.

Also should stg be on the client server or fine to keep our side and prod is client server?
