Where do I start? What steps do I take?

I know you’ve probably heard this question a million times already and I’m sorry but I can’t grasp a understanding on where I should start and advance to become a successful developer. I’m currently a Sophomore in High-school and want to get a head start before College. I’ve loved computers my entire life and have had one since I was 8 I’m great at hardware but I found Software Development to be exactly what I wanted to pursue. Any suggestions or answers would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!
